When it felt like everything would fall apart,
More walls came crashing around me
Not as a room, not as a building
The stone enclosures more like a cocoon
It felt so clearly like a series of echoes
of a life emerging within me
There was no where to go
Friends became strangers,
I met them as each day, uncertainty
Hidden as if I couldn’t hear them anymore,
The silences as the only barriers between us.
I lost myself, until I heard for the first time,
A whisper like a scream,
A blinding light that was the color of the night sky.
And for the first time, no perfect conclusion,
The only certainty, a dreaming sleep,
So that I could wake again, in this very moment,
Of an invisible city, if only a distant misunderstanding
Of a mountain within.
